Usually, the drive takes around 2 to 3 hours through scenic countryside and small rural villages.<\/p><p><strong>By Air:<\/strong><\/p><p>Alternatively, travelers can fly into Kigali International Airport, which is the closest major airport to the park. From the airport, you continue the journey by road since there are currently no direct scheduled flights to Akagera.<\/p><p><strong>When to Visit Akagera National Park<\/strong><\/p><p>The Park is open all throughout the year, however, some months offer better weather and easier wildlife viewing experiences. Generally, the dry seasons from June to September and December to February are the best times for game drives and safaris. During these months, animals gather near water sources making it easier to spot elephants, zebras, antelopes, etc, in one place. Moreover, the dry weather keeps roads in better condition, making park travel smoother and more comfortable for all visitors. On the other hand, the wet season March to May and October to November brings green landscapes and active birdlife.<\/p><p>Although rain may fall, it\u2019s still possible to enjoy guided walks, boat safaris and stunning views of the park&#8217;s beauty.
